Dr. Anil Chaudhary

Anil Bhaskar Chaudhary, Sc.D., is the Principal Scientist at Applied Optimization, Inc. He started the company in 1995. Anil’s core expertise is his knowledge of the basics of science and mathematics, that allows him to visualize how the seemingly different phenomena can be modeled using a common set of differential equations, which are solved using methods that go back to the basics of science and engineering.
 
Anil graduated from IIT Bombay, India; his thesis was on structural optimization. He earned his first M.S. degree at the University of Wisconsin (UW), Madison; his thesis was on torsional-flexural stability analysis using classical methods in differential calculus. Anil’s second M.S. degree was at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA; his thesis was on the modeling of earthquakes using probability theory and stochastic processes. He earned his Sc.D. at MIT; his doctoral thesis on dynamic contact-impact of complex, deformable 3D objects was sponsored by the Army Research Laboratory. He used variational calculus to develop the governing equations for dynamic contact-impact, and developed software to demonstrate solutions.

Anil and his wife, Anjali, live in Centerville, OH and have a son and a daughter. When the kids were in middle school, they said that engineering was difficult and they wanted to do something simpler when they grew up. So, they chose a simpler discipline and … became surgeons.
